United Way of Stanislaus County has served the local community for over 65 years…
Since 1953, United Way of Stanislaus County has been at the forefront of efforts to address the most pressing issues in our community, working to find long-term, sustainable solutions. The core of our Mission is to inspire unity and empower our community, and we accomplish this by leveraging our strong relationships with other nonprofit organizations and government agencies.
Simply put, we were here YESTERDAY, we are here TODAY, and we will be here TOMORROW.
2020 was a year of unpredictability and uncertainty, but as we have done for over six decades, we continued to BUILD, ENGAGE, and INVEST in our community. We were able to BUILD by offering organizational support to other nonprofits to ensure they could make the greatest impact with their essential services. We were able to ENGAGE by connecting individuals and organizations who needed help to volunteers who could provide assistance. And we were able to INVEST by directing your donations back to the community in the most impactful ways possible.
The COVID-19 pandemic and its economic fallout challenged many organizations, families and individuals. We pivoted services and programs in this time of need, including expanding projects like 211 of Stanislaus County. From March 15, 2020 – December 31, 2020, 211 of Stanislaus County documented 3,492 COVID -19 related calls. The newly created COVID -19 Pop-Up Call Center served to support the pandemic specific calls which allowed a more “hands-on” support experience for our community.

United Way of Stanislaus County recognizes structural racism and other forms of oppression have contributed to persistent disparities which we seek to dismantle. Our entire United Way network strives to engage community members, especially those whose voices have traditionally been marginalized. We work with residents and public and private partners to co-create solutions that ensure everyone can utilize the resources, support, opportunities, and networks they need to thrive. We recognize the urgency to address this issue and commit to leveraging our assets, strategic investment, awareness building, and advocacy – to create more equitable communities.
Equity is the intentional inclusion of everyone in society. Equity is achieved when systemic, institutional, and historical barriers based on race, gender, sexual orientation, and other identities are dismantled and no longer predict socioeconomic, educational, and health outcomes.

Through our BUILD United program, community support during the COVID -19 pandemic, and partnering with dozens of community nonprofits and organizations, we continue to give back to our communities. This has been our committment to Stanislaus County for decades, and it will continue to be.
