BUILDING STRONG NEIGHBORHOODS

VISION: All neighborhoods are vibrant and safe due to informed and involved residents taking action on neighborhood issues.

MISSION: Assisting neighborhoods and residents capacities to develop and sustain healthy neighborhoods.

OUTCOMES:

  • Increased community &/or neighborhood leadership capacity.
  • Increased capacity of community &/or neighborhood organizations.
  • Increased number of nonprofits that deliver programs in collaboration with communities &/or neighborhoods.
  • Increased local government programs and funds that are community &/or neighborhood based.

    OBJECTIVES

  • Provide grants/mini-grants that focus on developing leadership, organizational capacity & partnerships.
  • Build a resource center for community/neighborhood organizational development.
  • Sponsor meetings involving all community/neighborhood organizations to help leadership.
  • Advocate for community/neighborhood focused strategy of resource development & service delivery.

    BUILDING STRONG NEIGHBORHOODS INDICATORS

    1. Increase the number of community &/or neighborhood organizations.
    2. Increase the number of community &/or neighborhood associations with board of directors that   meet at least quarterly.
    3. Increase the number of community &/or neighborhood residents that have attended leadership training workshops/institutes.
    4. Increase the number of community and/or neighborhood organizations with 501 c (3) status.
    5. Increase the number of community &/or neighborhood organizations that have existed 5 years.
    6. Increase the number of community &/or neighborhood organizations that distribute newsletters.
    7. Increase the number of community &/or neighborhood organizations with technological capacity (i.e. computers, internet access, web sites).
    8. Increase the number of community &/or neighborhood organizations that have successfully received funding resources.
    9. Increase the number of reported crimes in communities &/or neighborhoods
    10. Decrease in the crime rate in communities &/or neighborhoods.
    11. Decrease in the mobility rate in communities/neighborhoods.
    12. Increase the number of non-profits that provide services in the communities &/or neighborhoods.
    13. Increase the number of partnerships between community &/or neighborhood organizations and non-profit providers.
    14. Increase in local government funding for community &/or neighborhood advocated projects.
    15. Increase in number of partnerships between local government, schools, communities, neighborhoods & faith-based organizations.
